Amy's Amazing Adventures

Australia! continued…

Brisbane is my favourite Australian city! Although, the only cities we’ve been to are Sydney and Brisbane, but Brisbane is just great!

We got to Brisbane at about 5pm on Monday night. We checked in to the hotel then walked down town. We went to the mall and had supper (Felafel Kabobs) and then just looked around and walked back to the hotel. It’s such a nice city. Clean. Pretty. Exciting!

watch We noticed that lots of people don’t wear shoes. They’re walking down the street, shopping, driving, etc. all shoeless! They’re not carrying their shoes… they just don’t have them! It’s kind of cool. Steve decided he was going to drive without shoes. So, thats what he did the whole drive back to Sydney yesterday.

On Tuesday morning we drove 45 minutes to Beerwah which is where the Australia Zoo is. I am a huge fan of Steve Irwin! It’s always been a dream of mine to go to the Australia Zoo! So, I was really excited to be there :) We saw lots of interesting animals. We watched the crocdiles being fed, touched a sleeping Koala, and fed and played with some Kangaroos!

The next day we left Brisbane and headed back to Coffs Harbour. A few minutes into the drive we saw the temple from the highway! So we took the next exit and tried to find it.

We met a sister missionary there, Sister Brooks, from Texas. She was very nice and showed us around the garden and told us a bit about what the church is like in Brisbane.

As we were driving, Steve saw a sign for Palm Beach and decided to check it out. So, we spent a few hours there. We wanted to go swimming, but we didn’t have any towels. So we went for a quick walk down the street to see if we could buy some. The first place we found sold towels for $50 each! So, we kept looking. We found a store that had a bunch of $10 towels, but they all had bad pictures on them. Then we saw one towel that didn’t have anything wrong with it, it was actually a display towel, but they sold it to us anyway. So, we went swimming. The waves were awesome. I didn’t go out any farther than my waist because i was scared that a shark would be in the waves. But Steve went out and played in the waves! They were huge.

We had the beach to ourselves because it was raining off and on. After the beach, we walked to a fish and chips place where we got the ‘Seafood for 2′ dinner, which could have fed 8! They gave it to us wrapped in paper. So, we went to the tables outside, unwrapped the paper, and ate it off the paper. It was fun

We got to Coffs Harbour at about 9pm that night and checked in. The hotel there is interesting. It’s a Comfort Inn, but it’s not very nice. The rooms have cage doors, the pool had a dead frog in it, the hot tub was warm on the top and cold at the bottom, there was a HUGE bug in the bathroom and lots of little bugs everywhere else, and it was so humid that the blankets were all damp. Oh, and there’s no one working at the reception desk at any particular time, so you have to ring a bell then wait like 20 minutes for someone to come.

The next morning we left for Sydney, but we had to do laundry first. So we found a Laundromat, and while we waited for our clothes to wash and dry, we had breakfast, went tobogganing at the Big Banana, made a massage appointment, and figured out where the Pet Porpoise Pool was.

Tobogganing was awesome! It’s like a roller coaster that you control. It’s a sled on a track. We each had 2 turns. It was a lot of fun!

After the laundry was finished, we went to the Pet Porpoise Pool which is a little water animals zoo. We each got a kiss from a Dolphin and Steve was also kissed by a seal!

We got to Sydney at 11pm that night and checked in to the hotel. Sydney is not fun to drive in! There are a million one way streets! It’s quite confusing.

Today we’re planning on finding a beach, or some other fun thing to do for the day. We leave tomorrow for Singapore.

Australia has been awesome!

Thanks everyone! I loved my time in Australia!
The animals were so interesting and the beach was great! And Chad, the fish and chips look a lot smaller in the picture… we didn’t finish them.

I wanted to respond to your blog comments before now but I didn’t know if that was proper blog etiquette. Steve informed me that it was :)

So thanks for commenting! Keep it up!
