Waterton, Alberta 2014

Steve and I moved to Nova Scotia in September 2010. We were back to Alberta for a brief visit in September 2012, and then not again until June 2014. This time we stayed for a whole month!
Waterton is one of our favourite places to visit.
We went almost every weekend during our time in Alberta.
We had a few people we wanted to see while we were in Alberta, but with only being there for a month, and having to take other people’s work schedules into account, we decided to arrange for a weekend in Waterton with some of our friends. Our group consisted of 4 families: The Days (Steve and I), the Dowells (Shaun, Jessica, Jericho, Gabe and Aria), the Campbells (Doug, Ashley, Cooper, and Sophie), and the Workmans (Mike, Lindsay, Jenner, and Emery).
We met at the playground so the kids could play while we had lunch.
We went for walks
rented bikes (called Surreys)
Saw lots of animals
the boys went kayaking
they even survived a sudden thunderstorm while kayaking
played by the water
and enjoyed the amazing views!
We went back the next weekend with Laura. It was her first time in Waterton!
This time we decided to hike up a mountain. We are all beginner hikers, so we did the “easiest” hike. It was called “Bear’s Hump”. I am scared of bears, so I insisted that we rent a can of bear spray just in case. We definitely did not need it. That trail is very populated and noisy. No bear would go near it.
We stopped at the Cardston LDS Temple on the way back to Lethbridge.
We went back the next weekend with Laura, Ben (who had just returned home from his mission in the Canada Halifax Mission), Emily, and her friend Daniel.
This time we went to Red Rock Canyon
We rented surreys again
We drove the bikes to Waterton Lake and played by the water
And again enjoyed the amazing views
